Shannon Kim is an artist based in California.

About Shannon
Shannon Kim lives and works in Southern California. She attended the University of California, Berkeley with a portion of her studies residing in Rome, Italy and Madrid, Spain as well as in Fullerton, California at Fullerton College. Currently, she uses her Bachelor in Fine Arts to profess the importance of creativity to young artists, and also assists Public Artists write grant letters and project applications.
Shannon's art stems from her theory that all people have the potential to be creative. She uses a blend of traditional materials to create her abstracted paintings.
You are invited to follow her process on Instagram.
Her present work includes expanding her art practice to what can happen beyond the canvas. She's dreaming of collaborating with creative performers (musicians, playwrights, self-proclaimed entertainers), making public art, and creating space for hungry artists.

About my work
It's a continual exploration of layer, of line, and of the ocean as a metaphor. The surface expresses movements that change with layers of paint, layers of context, and the lines that draw us in and out of the ocean of emotions, of seasons, and of human understanding. Visual lexicon is my language of choice, one that is unsettled and inquiring analysis. It requires a bit of improvisation and a lot of creative problem solving.
I see art as more than the physical work. It was made for the purposes of viewing, understanding, and discussing; living outside the vacuums of our individual minds. My art practice tests my vulnerability and challenges me to use art as a medium for communication, for transparency, and for empathy. It is my passion to make visual thinking accessible and digestible. The Creative Public was born out of that same seed. It is a podcast aiming to display an image of the art community through conversations about creative thinking and artistic living.
